I write to inform you that students will be returning to the halls of  residence on Sunday
27th May, 2018 and lectures will commence on Monday 28th May, 2018 for second semester.
Many of the students allocated bed spaces in the halls of residence are yet to pay and clear their spaces.

This is to inform all Students of the University of Benin residing in the Hall of Residence to
please be ready to engage in the activities that will promote cleanliness of hostels.

This is to inform all newly admitted students of the University of Benin for 2017/2018 session
that the School Management has made provision for accommodation for Freshers during the process the physical clearance.

Below is the part 3 of the robbery incident.

Fast forward to 8:30 a.m this morning, I was sleeping again and another noise. The Dean of students’ Uniben and his entourage were in the hostel. They paid a visit to the room that was robbed, spent a lot of time there, the hall2 P.E.O (the woman in charge of hall2) finally graced us with her presence then wearing her pepper red lipstick, the same officer who said or did nothing sometime last month while girls were locked out of the hostel by 11pm at night until a good Samaritan had to call the Dean’s wife to beg the Dean to call the woman to let them in. The said hostel has no Hall excos while the sister hostel Hall1 has long concluded their elections.  When they finally made it downstairs, we all stood by the balcony waiting and the next thing I heard ” we can now cook with hotplate (electric cooker)”. Hellooo?? Are we playing here?
And the girls were screaming joyously.Now I heard there was a similar episode in Ekehuan Campus last night. No one is saying anything.  But “food is power” so, hotplate wins!To be continued…

Below is the part 2 of the robbery incident.

The girls in the room after mine 306 block E were lamenting, apparently the thief made it to their room, one of the occupants woke up and saw him, then he ran away. And she went back to sleep.We had not even finished talking about that issue when the girls in 408 block E, the room of the girl who ran to ours started screaming, we rushed upstairs. The guy finally got lucky. He had taken their phones and some gadgets. He even managed to steal hot plate that was plugged to the socket. This was the last straw as hell let loose…Believe me you don’t want to be around girls when there’s drama, they panic, scream, mostly irrational and confused, before you know it they rub off on you. Several times the screams were so loud we actually thought they had caught the thief in other blocks.Oh yes the potters did come, I had already lost interest and gone to my room but my sources tell me there were two male potters, a woman and one security guard. The woman in question said she was sick and didn’t want stress. This woman who stressed herself along with some others some time last week, going round all the rooms seizing the hot plates girls in cooking and shoes on the louvers. All of a sudden, she doesn’t want to be stressed. Oh let me not even get started on all the snide comments they all made. That is not the aim of this story. Maybe some other time.Of course the potters couldn’t help us, and the hall2 girls have had enough. I am quite old in the system and even before our time, this has been an issue. “Clementus” as they like to call any thief who makes it inside. . Nothing has ever been done except the potters turning around to blame us for being careless while we were robbed in our sleep.So the girls took matters in their own hands and decided to protest. The crowd went as far as Uniben main gate and would have gone farther had the security men opened the gate. They did plead with us though. The SUG President and P.R.O were there to manage the situation.

female hostel “HALL 2” .  As narrated by Hon. Zainab Eze.  Read below…

In case you were wondering why there was chaos in the female school hostel (hall 2) this morning. This is to ease your stress so you can go back to reading your books… if you were not wondering, just enjoy the story.At about 3a.m this morning, a female voice woke me up with her screams of “thief thief thief”, I stood up and rushed outside, I didn’t take long before I heard another voice and several footsteps, then a voice asking which direction the thief went to. Apparently it wasn’t just one guy. Thinking the situation has been resolved, I went back into my room, all plans of going to the reading room to study was cancelled and not after I had used all the bags in the room to wedge the door behind as most doors in the hostel had no inside bolt or lock, only then was I able to sleep. Our room didn’t even have light bulb.At about 5:30a.m, a girl ran to our room shaking with panic. She saw a guy in her room, he wore a black shirt and Jean trouser. She called her bunkie on phone while in our room, who didn’t see anyone. At that time, they were still oblivious of the situation. Her bunk mate and some of my roommates tried to convince her otherwise, maybe she was hallucinating as she spent all night reading and was just coming from the reading room, she remained adamant though. “I know what I saw”. The girl in question didn’t understand why she couldn’t scream on seeing the thief. Her only instinct was to run far far away and she didn’t stop till she saw her fellow roommate who had a friend in my room which explains why they ended up there. I tried to act uninterested as I hadn’t slept much after the 3am episode, I still had studying to do but life had other plans for me, 

spaces occupied by them following the directive by the management through the Student affair division to do so on or before 12 noon on Friday 25th November, 2016. To this end, the boys in hall 2 are currently moving out of the hostel, while the girls who were allocated spaces in hall 2 are presently outside waiting to move into the hostel. This is to notify all students on temporary
hostel accommodation in Hall 2 and Hall 4 that they are to vacate the their space on or before 12 noon on Friday 25th November, 2016.


Students are advised to comply according, as  sanction will be instituted against any student found defaulting.

The Students Affair Division of the University
of Benin has officially released the requirements for Hostel accommodation for the 2016/2017 newly admitted students.
Below are the requirements…


1. Students must have paid their acceptance fee and other charges for 2016/2017 academic session.
2. Obtain Medical Certificate from University Health Centre.
3. Pay bed space application fee of (N1000 + N500 Student Union) + N150 card charges I.e N1650
4. Register for hostel accommodation at the Student Affairs Division.
