PRESS RELEASE: Uniben resumes on Monday, 8th January, 2018: Reviews Students’ charges for 2017/2018 Session


The Management of the University of Benin has approved that there would be no increase in the fees/charges paid by all returning students for the 2017/2018 academic session.


The University Management is also reviewing the decision that led to the suspension of the Students’ Union Government of the University of Benin, as all issues pertaining to the students‘ protest in November, 20l7, have been addressed. 

The Governing Council has approved #l.000.00 (one thousand naira) as Students Union dues for all returning students. Consequently, all returning science students are to pay #l5,400.00 (Fifteen thousand four hundred naira only) and non-science students would pay #13,400 (Thirteen thousand four hundred naira only). each~inclusive of SUG dues. 

 The
Governing Council also reduced the hostel charges for the undergraduate
hostels (Halls l. 2. 3. and 4 for Ugbowo Campus and Ekehuan Campus
Hostels) to N17,000.00 (Seventeen thousand naira) for the session. All
fees/charges for new students will be reduced by about 50% in their
second year in the University, excluding accommodation charges.

All students are to note that hostel accommodation is optional. as allocation is based on “first come. first serve”. 
The
University of Benin re-opens on Monday 8th, January 2018 for fresh
students and they are expected to pay their acceptance and clearance
fees, as applicable to science, non-science, as well as medical and
non-medical students. All returning students should note that their
resumption date is 21st January, 2018, and lecture starts on 22nd
January, 2018 for all students.

The
University Management hereby cautions all students be of good behavior.
The University would not tolerate any breach of peace in new academic
session, as these are laid down rules and regulation for studentship.
