1st Departmental Lecture of the Department of Marketing
The event which was took place at the Dr Aghahowa ICAN Hall, began with an opening prayer. The master of ceremony at the event Dr. Osifo led guests in singing the Nigerian National Anthem and that of the University of Benin.
Opening Address by Dean Of Faculty of Management Sciences – Ven(Prof.) I.O.Osamwonyi praised the efforts of the current administration in establishing the Marketing Department. He went down memory lane where he stated that quacks have entered into the field of marketing which was a bad thing. He also stated that marketing had become a multi-disciplinary and evolving field. The Deans opening remarks were followed with the welcome address by the H.O.D of Marketing – Dr. E.E. Prest who proceeded with giving a brief history of the department of marketing. He described events leading to the creation of the department early 2015 under the faculty of Management Sciences, a department which can now boast of a total of 140 students; 90 students in 200 level and 50 students in 100 level.
